End of the Year Activities
As the 2012-2013 school came to an end, we had many accomplishments to celebrate! To celebrate we played "Minute to Win It" with Mr. Reuter's class, had our class auction, and had a field day on our very last day of Third Grade. Pictures coming soon!
Pen Pal Day
On May 31 we walked from the Winona Public Library to Madison Elementary to meet our Third Grade pen pals. We had a wonderful afternoon eating lunch, playing kickball, card games, and designing t-shirts! It was wonderful to meet the pen pals we've been writing to all year.

Our Classroom Leveled Library & Guided Reading Rotations
I have been meaning to make this post and am finally getting around to it. For those of you who have not had a chance to visit our classroom library, now you can take a picture tour! :)
Since each student knows their independent reading level, they are able to choose books that are just the right fit for them. At the beginning of the year, we started our Guided Reading Rotations. I meet with two groups a day for 20-25 minutes. Therefore, I meet with each group twice a week. The students have done a wonderful job with the rotations and continue to amaze me with their reading stamina, quality of work, and respect for students in their groups as well as in other groups. Each student's independent reading level has increased greatly since the start of the year Way to go!

February 12th- 100th Day of School
We celebrated the 100th Day of School on February 12th! In our classroom, we read many stories about the 100th day and completed some math challenges using 100 pennies. It is hard to believe we have been in 3rd grade for over 100 days...but just think, we are 100 days SMARTER!
Skye and Ayden sorted their pennies by years. |
Reed sorted his pennies into two piles: dull and shiny. |
Brady loved the penny activities! |
Corbin got ready to stack his pennies. |
Allison and Sam compared their stacks. Who had more in their stack? |
McKenna & Taylynn enjoyed working near their friends for the penny activities! |
Avery slowly added more pennies to his stack. |
March Madness
First off, I have to apologize for not posting anything recently! March has been an extremely busy month and it seems this spring is not about to slow down for us in Third Grade.
Our March at a glance:
March 1st- We had Target volunteers read in our classroom! Allison's uncle was our guest reader. :)
March 5th & 7th- We were working on our math benchmark testing.
March 8th- Our Spring Break began. We all seem to be rejuvenated after our week off!
March 25th- Yesterday, we had early release.
March 29th- We do NOT have school...I hope everyone has a happy Easter!
In between some of these dates, we have had snowdays and late starts due to the weather! Needless to say, I think the groundhog was WRONG. :) Let the March Madness continue...

1st Grade Reading Buddies
Since the beginning of the school year, our class has been reading with Ms. Bodas' 1st grade class. We get together every Friday! The first and third graders each get a chance to read to their partner. We are creating special bonds and are loving the extra reading practice :) Here are some pictures of us with our buddies!
